About

Mr. Ortig, meshed#3 is going into its round 3. What changed since 2009?

Well, meshed# made it's mark. Thus the possibilities grow, but also the expectations. Principally we still want the same: Creating a sympathetic and intelligent event for those, who acitvely work with Social Media and want to be successful, in Marketing as well as in Public Relations, for Employer Branding or in service and product development.

"Social Media" has been a hype topic in the last years. Meanwhile there are classes on every education centre. Does a "Social Media Conference" still makes sense?

At first: It's great when a topic in which you trust reaches the centre of society and economy. So all sorts of training concerning that issue are important  I think. That for that reason it's not necessary to present Facebook and Twitter is clear. We're looking for phenomenons which we expect to gain impact and change Social Media as we know it now.

Why "Visual Talking"?

Visit the event! (...) Seriously: The "140 Signs of the future" are photos. Pictures replace text. Not completely, but there will be a significant change. In addition there are videos, the visualisation of data and Augmented Reality applications. So the questions that appear for companies are: "What can we learn here? How can we participate?"

Where do you see the biggest potential of Social Media personally?

I consider Social Media skills as a cultural technique that has - like every cultural technique - an emancipatory character. That's sociopolitical seen highly interesting. For economy, Social Media is the chance to move the focus from short-term advertising success to a customer relationship management of a long duration.

If you could wish something for the meshed#3 - what would that be?

Wonderful weather, so we could use the open air area of the voestalpine Stahlwelt for the get-together in the evening. And that people ask if there'll be a meshed#4, before they go home.
